No — it is a condiment, a sweetener for food and drink. It is not a medicine and not intended to address any condition.

Before opening, a cool, dark cupboard is fine. After opening, keep it in the fridge. Pure maple syrup crystallises or moulds if left warm and open for long, but it keeps well in the cold.

It is a gentle warmth rather than a heat. The smoke and chilli add depth and a slow warmth on the finish, without overwhelming the maple's sweetness. If you want it hotter, that is an easy add at the table.

The syrup is aged in barrels that once held bourbon, so it carries the barrel's oaky, vanilla warmth, but it does not contain alcohol and is safe for all ages. It is flavoured by the wood, not by the spirit.

They start from the same pure syrup. The bourbon-barrel rests in retired oak barrels, the vanilla is steeped with real vanilla pods, and the smoked chilli is warmed with a measured smoked heat. No artificial flavouring is added.

It is made only from the sap of the sugar maple, tapped and boiled in spring. No sugar, no water, no additives — the amber grade is our balanced table syrup, and the dark is a late-season robust one.
